international school

In Hong Kong, international schools are quite popular. Students and their parents are drawn to these schools for a variety of reasons, including their intriguing curricula. HKCC encourages students to embrace a multicultural world by supporting educational adjustments that promote a globalized culture. We believe that this teaches kids far more than what is taught in their textbooks, such as tolerance and a greater understanding of other cultures. There are numerous benefits to attending an International School, and we will examine a few of them in this post.

An environment that is multicultural

We’ve addressed the key benefits of these institutions’ international environment in some of our prior writings. Students must be exposed to diverse cultures in order to become global citizens. This exposure aids in the development of empathy, understanding, and collaboration with people who appear, sound, and act differently than they do.

Modern existence necessitates the ability to gain tolerance, mutual respect, empathy, and understanding of others. The world is becoming increasingly smaller as a result of technological advancements and travel innovation. In the career routes they pick, students will meet a wide range of people. If kids already know how to communicate with and respect individuals who are different from them, they will have a significant edge.

Curricula from other countries

An International School, according to Wikipedia, is “a school that promotes international education in an international environment, either by adopting a curriculum such as the International Baccalaureate, Edexcel, Cambridge Assessment International Education, or the International Primary Curriculum or by following a national curriculum different from the school’s country of residence.”

Many foreign schools in Hong Kong integrate aspects from multiple systems, for example, a curriculum based on the British core curriculum but supplemented with elements from the American or Australian systems. These hybrid courses combine the best of both cultures, giving students the abilities they’ll need to succeed in a global marketplace.

Language

The principal language of instruction at most foreign schools in Hong Kong is English. Because English is the most commonly spoken language in the world, with over three-quarters of the world’s population speaking it, students must master it.

International schools frequently provide a variety of other language programs, such as French, German, and Spanish, in addition to English. When it comes to getting a job, being able to communicate in various languages is a significant plus. Both public and private schools with international classrooms in Hong Kong are required to teach Mandarin. This allows students to improve their communication skills, have a better understanding of Chinese culture, and adjust to Chinese society. It also ensures that youngsters from China or Hong Kong who attend foreign schools do not fall behind in their native language skills.

More Opportunities for Extracurricular Activities

Many international schools pride themselves on providing a diverse range of extracurricular activities. Sports, art, music, dance, and even photography are among them. Students are given the opportunity to find their passions while also learning how to develop their skills.

Final Thoughts

There are numerous other benefits of attending overseas schools. Students have access to a high-quality education, international standards, and a diverse cultural milieu. This provides them with a head start in life as well as a huge competitive advantage in the global labor market. The nicest part about foreign schools is that they place a strong emphasis on a student’s whole development rather than simply their academic development alone.
